Abstract

The Tcl_SaveResult/Tcl_RestoreResult/Tcl_DiscardResult functions are able to save and restore the current interpreter result. This is not adequate in the error-situation, that's why a new set of functions was developed TIP #226 doing a better job.

Since Tcl_SaveResult/Tcl_RestoreResult/Tcl_DiscardResult are deprecated already a long time, it's time to remove them in Tcl 9.0.

Potential incompatibility.

All extensions will need to be rewritten to use Tcl_SaveInterpState/ Tcl_RestoreInterpState/Tcl_DiscardInterpState in stead of Tcl_SaveResult/Tcl_RestoreResult/Tcl_DiscardResult. Since those functions are already available since Tcl 8.5, that shouldn't be a problem: All extensions should have been rewritten already a long time ago.

Implementation
